All the pictures (except this one, obviously) were taken on a Canon EOS 20D, bought specially for the trip. Most of the bear shots used a 75-300mm zoom, generally close to its limit of 300mm. With this camera that actually corresponds to a 450mm lens on a conventional camera. The light was good and even at this focal length I mostly used the 400ASA setting. I'm very happy with the camera - it has an 8 megapixel resolution, and on the original photos you can easily see individual hairs in the bears' fur for example. Unfortunately a lot of detail is lost in reducing the images for the web. |
